Born in 1988, lives and works in Antwerpen, Belgium.
The dialogues and meetings that Karina Beumer organizes are similar to polyphonous, surreal poems, executed as drawings, publications or videos. Without realizing it, the protagonist becomes part of the creative process and the works themselves also turn into protagonists; always searching for new ways of existing. Beumer urges dialogue. She simultaneously plays the role of journalist and graphic designer and searches for poetic miscommunication or mistranslation in others. The results of these quests form a diary of inter-human activity, where the viewer – in their role as a coincidental passer-by – runs the risk of being quoted.
