Born in 1980, lives and works in Marseille.
For the first edition of its co-creation residency, dedicated to collaborative practices, Artistes en résidence invites François Dehoux to encounter the local territory and its inhabitants.
François Dehoux is an artist with an atypical career, trained both in arts and in various craft techniques: stone cutting, masonry, carpentry, gardening, heritage restoration. His joy of learning makes him travel the countryside, whereas the pleasure to create and transmit leads him to stop - temporarily - in certain places. The rural context suits him more than the urban space, in which he will turn his gaze towards the breathing zones, the wastelands, the spaces where the soil becomes visible and possible to dig. His interest in undergrounds and the movements that take place there, combined with his ecological sensitivity, pushes him to work with materials drawn from the landscapes: earth, wood, rocks, plants. If his installations are linked with engineering, their sensory dimension puts at the center the sensitive links between humans and their environment, the living and the non-living. In Clermont-Ferrand, he will organise various participatory workshops in 2023, after a first phase of surveying and exploration in the fall of 2022.

En compagnie de l'artiste François Dehoux, les associations Terra Preta et Artistes en résidence vous proposent de porter un regard sur le rôle du sol et des plantes dans le cycle de l'eau. Étude d'échantillons de terres, identification des plantes et tentative de (re)construction de sols permettront aux participant·es de comprendre la complexité des écosystèmes.
Rendez-vous à 10h00 à l'arrêt de tram Fontaine du bac, muni·es de vêtements adaptés au temps et d'un pic-nic à partager.
Cet atelier s'inscrit dans le cadre de la résidence de co-création, actuellement réalisée par l'artiste François Dehoux chez Artistes en résidence.

En compagnie de l’artiste François Dehoux et de l’agroécologue Madeline Carlin, les associations Terra Preta et Artistes en résidence vous proposent de porter un regard sur le rôle du sol et des plantes dans le cycle de l’eau.
Cet atelier, suite à de premières observations et expérimentations menées en juin, vise à identifier la flore spontanée, en vue, notamment de déterminer les plantations intégrées dans le projet artistique « La Garde du Ciel ». Étude d’échantillons de terre, observation de plantes bio-indicatrices et (re) construction de sols, autant d’approches qui permettront aux participant·es d’appréhender la complexité des écosystèmes.

On 17 May 2024, from 2pm to 7pm, Artistes en résidence and Francois Dehoux are pleased to invite you to the official inauguration of ‘la garde du ciel’ in the Prairie area of the Fontaine-du-bac district (behind the Maison de quartier). As part of the Les Arts En Balade event.
A territorial and co-creative project, la garde du ciel is concerned with the water cycle and its local history. Based on the collection of rainwater, the work shows the interactions between the sky and the ground within a particular ecosystem. Part sculpture, part architecture, la garde du ciel posts its sentinels on the surface, while an underground network links them together. From a collector to various manholes, then to a reservoir topped by a measuring terminal, the water follows a path that is both real and buried. In the open air, the visible forms of the work form a constellation that emerges from the depths.
Following several phases of research and experimentation initiated in 2022, La garde du ciel is now taking shape in the open air of the meadow in the Fontaine-du-Bac district of Clermont-Ferrand.
Created in collaboration with the Fontaine-du-Bac leisure centre, the CM1/CM2 A class from Victor Hugo primary schools, the second year visual communication class from Lycée La Fayette, students from ESACM - École Supérieure d'Art de Clermont Métropole, artists from Les Ateliers, Les Petits Débrouillards and Association Terra Preta.
