Born in 1986, lives and works in Clermont-Ferrand, France.
Drawing from the know-how and tools she encounters, Claire Gonçalves offers both educational and sensitive displays in which her subjects of study unfold and present themselves under different angles. Curious, Claire Gonçalves observes, dissects and dismantles. From these deconstructions can then arise new assemblies, that are never identical to their models, nor necessarily improved, but underline on the contrary the fragility and sensitivity of the handmade. The artist restages gestures of work and codes of marketing, and ultimately proposes no more no less than reclaiming the means of production. During her residency in Iceland, Claire Gonçalves aims at enriching her formal and visual vocabulary through contact with new craftsmanship, and at imagining new user manuals of the world.

Apportez un objet de votre quotidien. Cet objet servira de modèle à la réalisation d’une peinture en perspective cavalière. La perspective cavalière est une technique de représentation, sur un support en deux dimensions, d’objets qui existent en volume (trois dimensions). Elle ne comporte pas de point de fuite : la taille des objets ne diminue pas lorsqu’ils s’éloignent.
