Born in 1982, lives and works in Brussels.
Zinaïda Tchelidze has a multifaceted work that is strongly anchored in the context it emerges from. The starting point can be the careful observation of the surroundings, a sociological or poetic research, an object or material encountered during her wanderings. These different elements guide her through her process of developing forms, based on the association of ideas. She strives to use recognizable objects, which everyone can relate to, before shifting meanings and uses through confrontation with other items or materials. Her work is an empirical and moving process in dialogue with the invested space, that gradually weaves a narrative of encounter.
Cross-residency in partnership with AAIR, Antwerpen, Belgium.
