Precariousness and care are at the heart of Marjolaine Turpin’s work. The artist travels through places without haste, picking out faults, gaps, edges and fragilities using a variety of sculptural gestures. Through a range of discreet, non-authoritarian approaches, she recounts the natural accidents of matter, its breaths, its evolutions. Working with the human and environmental characteristics of the site, she adopts a welcoming and hospitable approach.

Born in 1991, Marjolaine Turpin lives and works in Clermont-Ferrand, where she is a member of the association Les ateliers. After obtaining her DNSEP at ESACM in 2015, she has collaborated with CACIN Le creux de l’Enfer, the IAC Villeurbanne/Rhône-Alpes, CAC le Parc Saint-léger and the Martell Foundation on exhibitions and residencies. More recently, she has taken part in the Alpages residency programme, organised by CAC Halle de Pont en Royans, Villa Glovettes and L’Envers des Pentes, and has held two solo exhibitions at Home Alone and Angle Art Contemporain. Marjolaine is also developing a research and creation project centred on glass with Marion Chambinaud, for which they have presented two exhibitions in 2024, at CACIN Creux de l’Enfer and at La Chapelle Jeanne d’Arc.
For her residency in LKV, Marjolaine will be able to discover new landscapes and ecosystems, to meet and exchange with local initiatives in order to explore the development of small ecosystems—surfaces where plants and minerals such as glass or ceramics can interact.
