Emilie Richelet

Vit et travaille à Clermont-Ferrand, France.

In 2020, Arts en Balade asked Artistes en résidence to curate an art project for the palisade around the Regens Park construction site, located next to their premises. Emilie Richelet was invited to create a site-specific work within the framework of the Arts en balade event.

‘Regensburg Square has undergone major transformations that Artistes en résidence has witnessed for several months now. From our windows, we saw two buildings fade away, then a staggering amount of things appear. Despite the noise, the smoke, the frantic to-and-fro of vehicles of all kinds, we began to like the site. A site rich in colours, shapes and materials. We can certainly not draw the line as to what the disappearance of a hostel for young workers means. On the other hand, we can admire the hesitant and discreet beauty that this type of construction site produces. What if that in itself was a tribute to the young and less-young workers? The idea progressed and we entrusted it to Émilie Richelet, because this young artist knows how to unearth what conventional eyes sometimes forget to see.’
