About Artistes en Résidence

Created in 2011 in Clermont-Ferrand, Artistes en résidence (A·R) is a non-profit organization which supports contemporary creation by organizing residencies for artists and researchers in the field of contemporary art. A·R supports international mobility of artists and the circulation of ideas and skills through the development of a vast network of local, national and international partners.
At A·R, residencies are considered as a time entirely dedicated to research and experimentation with no obligation to produce. The goal is to provide artists with the necessary time for qualitative and in-depth research, to promote a true immersion in the residency context, and to allow for trial and error as well as critical questioning necessary for the development of artistic practices.
A·R’s team offers mentorship to artists and provides contacts of various art professionals, researchers, artisans or any other person who can contribute to the development of their practice.

About Nýló

The Living Art Museum or Nýló, was founded in 1978 by a group of artists and is therefore one of the oldest museums and exhibition spaces in Europe under the supervision of artists. The Living Art Museum has been one of the main venues for contemporary art in Iceland and has a unique collection of works by Icelandic and international artists from the 1960s to the present day.
The Living Art Museum's exhibitions began in the early 1980s, and many exhibitions have marked time limits in Icelandic art history. Every year, the museum presents a strong exhibition program as well as being a venue for various events, museum education and research, in close collaboration with artists, curators, scholars and the general public.
The Living Art Museum's collection includes over 2,200 works donated by artists, representatives, collectors and individuals associated with the museum. Today, Nýló's collection reflects the main movements in contemporary art and the museum's interest in asking and answering current questions.
Nýlo´s team consists of the director, the general manager and the collections manager. The team will connect the artist to local artists and art professionals. The team welcomes the artist to Nýló´s exhibition space and also to the collection if there is interest in research. The team will also give advice on subjects related to artistic interests and invite the artist to events connected to the Nýló´s exhibition program.
