Two surfaces joined at 90 degrees become a space. A space observed from a single point of view becomes a flat surface. Does the mask belong to the second or the third dimension? Francisco Babo analyses in his work the contemporary challenges of painting, photography and video, by confronting them with the performativity of the human body. The body is a key element in Babo’s practice, as it gives the scale, determines the point of view and activates the works, questioning the notion of objectivity of the spectators’ and/or actors’ postures. He draws from art history as much as from popular practices such as karaoke, sport or television, and refutes the idea of a static, frozen, museum-like art.

Pour la fin de la résidence croisée entre Porto et Clermont-Ferrand, Francisco Babo vous invite pour un déjeuner dans le jardin d'Artistes en Résidence accompagné d'une présentation de ses recherches et de quelques formes sonores et plastiques proposées par des artistes invité·es.
